[Chrysler300] 1962 Trans. Buttons

What is the secret to keeping the buttons from falling behind the chrome
bezel?
I am constantly needing to remove the bezel to reset the neutral button in
it's place.
The factory felt cut out is quite worn out. Do I just need to cut a new
piece?
Thanks!
Matt Allyn
