Richard,

Anything you do to that clock as a quick fix will just cause you to pull it
again and do it right later on. Your best bet is to let a professional
clean and repair it, or better yet, convert it to a quartz movement. I had
Instrument Services in Wisconsin do mine, and it keeps perfect time.

One thing I've learned over the years is to not rush a restoration. You
will always end up having to do things twice (or 3 times) over.
