Anything for some booze, Larry.

The engine number is stamped on a boss on top of the engine block, right in
back of the water pump , on the DRIVER'S side. Under the cylinder head front
inside corner. It's a diagonally-located pad on the 383 (whereas it's a
horizontal pad on the RB engines such as 413, and 440

Engine code for 1970 383 is : F383 (1969 would be E383 and 1971 would be
G383 and you get the idea.

I'll drink to that.
