Before I retired I lived in MD and was subject to Emission Insp. My little
Red always passed, even with 1 dead cyl. Then the cats rotted off and I
welded in a by pass. Just before I had to retest (every 2 yrs) they put in
IM240 testing equiptment. I spent several afternoons jury rigging the cats
back in, and when I went to be tested, they ran out and told me to come into
the office. Seems like they couldin't test the l'tl Reds because of the
stacks and gave me a permanent waiver........I moved out of the state 5
months later. I also tagged my 83 Dodge 400 Conv in AR when I bought my
property, and took the tags home to MD to avoid the inspection for a year
til I moved.
