Lauren- If your battery tray is the same as the J- I just went out and looked at it- There is a brace on it that looks like the one you describe. One end bolts to the bottom of the rear of the tray and the other(smaller bolt hole) bolts to the upper control arm bracket/brace. Hope this helps you out.
