If your lenses are faded you aren't necessarily out of luck.......at least 
not with plastic.

Years ago my dad and I experimented with transluscent red paint on a faded 
set of taillight lenses on our Motorhome. We bought the transluscent paint 
from a hobby/craft store and painted the inside of the lens with it. We used 
a brush and applied it as evenly as possible.....it looked really good and 
lasted for many years without fading again.(Could still be bright for all I 
know) The results would have been even better if we had air brushed/sprayed 
the paint on but for our purposes it was fine with the brush.
