Okay, I just heard from a guy locally, who does restorations, he recommends
cleaning the rubber thoroughly and then brushing on "Go-Jo" hand cleaner,
let is soak in a wash tub for 1 or 2 days, then wash off and let air dry.
When he told me to use Go-Jo, it came back to me. A few years ago, I used
it to soften a hood-to-core support seal for my 70 300. It worked great.
