Henry, I thought Sherm's in Sacramento was very good, but I haven't used them for quite a while. Do you know?? That sums up my experience with more than one chromer--good to great for quite some time, then problems/trouble, then gone or switched to bumpers. > > Hence, the oft repeated topic of "Where to go for good chrome?" > > A good reference may only be reliable for a short time, alas. > > Currently using San Jose Polishing and Plating here in CA, kind of local for me(50 miles), but also using Triiple Plate Chrome in Spokane, WA, for my 60 Imp being restored in Kalispell, MT. Great work, but very expensive, repeat very expensive, and not very good with timing.. Had, or having, (been since last April) the bumpers done, but probably will pay the freight to have the rest sent to me here as I don't feel too confident on the long distance thing. Just think 2500 for Imp bumpers, large though they may be, is way high. I have argued back and forth and am holding to $1800 but I think I'll be stuck with $2000. Supposedly does Pebble Beach quality chrome, so since I wanted to pay less, the quality will be lowered--something like double plate, not triple plate--a different bit of patter each time I talk with the chromer. So much for being an 'absentee" restorer. Guess if one is in that role, one is considered a really big bucks pigeon. > > Henry in Berkeley, Imps and Letters
