To Bob Jasninsky and group .The 4 M.P.G. was on the last full run for the F
.Around Feb 1980.San Francisco to Reno and back.Road was clear and dry with 10
Ft. snow banks on both sides. If you lost it you would bend some stuff but
probably not die.I came up on a brace of Porches 2-4bangers and one 6 cyl. They
took me on one at a time.Blue the the doors off the 4rs .The 6 took a
little longer but the long rams packed more air and prevalled. They couldn't
belive that anything that big could go that fast and corner so well.Ah
the old days! After spending the night in Reno the 300 was a bitch to start
.Temp was around 25 deg. far. an I was also tuned for sea level ! Wound up
starting a fire in a coffee can and shoving it under the oil pan . When I
heard the oil popping I hit the starter and the big brute came to life.I didn't
shut it down until I Puled into my drive way in San Bruno-Even for fuel or
snaks.Reminds me I haft to check that oil pan when I pull it down . I
know that is not a far check the fuel mileage but 4 mpg. was all i got.
