The forgotten K

1. I have really enjoyed several series of discussions on the site since getting into the electronics. The new one about the forgotten K hits a button with me so I have to respond.
2. I have two 300-K's. If I had it all to do over again, I still would want at least one K. However, I too have seen the problems associated with them. However, I don't feel that means they are forgotten. They are cursed by being too young and yet too old. Too young for much to be reproduced and too old for much remaining unique NOS to be reasonably available. I long ago realized several rules, beyond the one that says you will spend several times more money restoring one than its worth. It is done for the love of the car--for its lines, feel, nostalia or whatever.
3. Early this week I did mail ( the old style with postage stamp) a letter to George Riehl suggesting the reproduction of the windshield washer bag and pump. I think they were used on other than just '64's, but am not sure. However, while I would also like new/very good pot metal trim across the back (unique to '64) I would likely not pay the amount needed to reproduce that item. 
4. I fix what I can, try to get to a solid number 3 condition so as to not be too much an embarassment to others, and drive and enjoy my cars for road machines. 
5. Maybe one day others will appreciate them as much as I and they may be worth enough in the market that more items will be reproduced. I am thankful for what has been done so far by Gary Goers, Legendary Auto Interiors, etc. I had to wait a number of years for Legendary to make a good (but not perfect) reproduction vinyl seat ( and then they aren't real cheap for a full set, but well worth the money).
Please don't wait for a car to be perfect--it may never be and is personally enjoyable at some stage less than perfection.
