Chrome Trim Sealing

Have a question regarding how to seal the chrome trim
that runs along the small fins on my 64 300K. The trim
is attached to the fins by studs connected to the trim
that bolts directly to the underside/inside of the
fin. Water has recently started to leak into the trunk
from this area. Is there a special type of sealant or
washer that needs to be replaced??? If so what should
I use to seal the trim???
