Hi Tom
Going to the airport may not be a bad idea. A friend who is into
flying tells me that you can approximate Hi Octane leaded gas by mixing
pump gas with aviation gas. That is, fuel for small private planes, not
jet fuel. Jet fuel is kerosene.
Aviation gas is high octane, very high lead content.
Small private airports will probably sell you some, but get a 55 gallon
drum or something. They don't like to bother with small quantities and
you don't want to go to the airport every tankful.
I have not tried this myself, but I have inquired at a small local
airport and was told they would not object. (Most pilots can appreciate
our cars}
