Hi Club; If your having problem with the heater core, and you have no air conditioner it is a breeze to take off, simply remove the cover on the fire wall side and its right there . Before you go to all that you might want to check the heater control valve , if it blows and it does after many years you will have fluid running down on the passenger side inside the car coming front the firewall. if it is a heater core leak it will show up on the opposite side generally unless it runs down a line towards the center of the counsel. The heater control value gets very hard and is subject to the pressure of the fluid in the rad , its just and ity bitty piece of rubber and it gets hard and when it does it leaks around the base that allows fluid to go to the heater core, you can get around that in the south by,by passing the heater , but folks up here , when the heater control valve blows you bloody well get a new one. there are several people who have them complete or you can tackle the job yourself and change the rubbers , but its easily wrecked.
