OK, here's
what "Value Story for '59" says (and it doesn't say much):
Nowhere are
upgrades to torsion bars or leaf springs spelled out. It must be implicit
in the 361ci vs 318ci package. The Golden Commando (361ci), order code
373, costs a whopping $86.50. Hey! Too late for me to
upgrade?!
Nothing is
said about 11" vs. 12" brakes. (As I recall from discussions on the
Forward Look maillist, this was a late model year change...)
Finally,
here are the wheel/tire options:
order
code
11 7.5"x14"
whitewall $33.95 (for all except 9 passenger
Suburbans)
12 8.0"x14"
blackwall $14.30 (standard on 9-passenger
Suburbans)
13 8.0"x14"
whitewall $55.95 (recommended for convert
and 6-pass Suburbans)
Pretty
sketchy... Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Ed,
I have the
salesman's option pricebook at home -- I'll try to answer some of these
questions tonight. I don't know if it goes into that much detail,
though... Someday, I'll scan it and put it up on our
website.
According
to an old email from "Forward Look Frank" (He advised me when I had my springs
replaced), cars with 318s had 5 leaves, while those with 361s had 6 leaf rear
springs.

Hello again Group
This is a 'study' day for me,,so pardon the
seemingly way out questions.
BUT--it all interests me as there is a 59 in my
future!!
Upon ordering a 59 S/F,,,,I believe standard
equipment was..............................
5 1/2" rims with 8.00X14 tires
11" brakes
5 leaf rear springs
1.04" dia torsion bars
Please correct me if I am wrong on any of
that
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Supposedly there was an option for 12" brakes
with 14X6 rims
Also an option for H/D suspension with 6 leaf
rear springs and 1.09 torsion bars????
If this is true,,,where was this ever
advertized or shown as an option to the buyer???
Thanks again
ED
ECKERSON.
