[Chrysler300] 1965 300L wheelcovers

I noticed a listing on e-bay for 1965 300L wheelcovers that I thought for
sure was a mislabeled auction.  The auction was for a set of four dog dish
type wheelcovers normally associated with a Chrysler Newport.  I tried to
offer my help to the seller that these were not 300L wheelcovers and no
factory literature shows such wheelcovers, only the traditional
red/white/blue full covers.  He since sold them to someone through e-bay and
I wonder if I missed something...

 

The E-Bay Seller replied :

 

Many years ago I owned a 300L convertible that I brought back from a
business 

trip to Switzerland. It was one of the few export models. I think there were
8 

altogether.

This car came from the factory with small hubcaps and after showing it to my


Chrysler friends started to look into the small hubcap controversy. I
managed 

to find a factory press photo of a 300L at the proving grounds and another
one 

showing a car in England or Australia because it was converted to right hand


drive.

When I sold the car all my documentation went with it. I only kept the very 

nice swiss auto club badge. Good luck with your 300Ls.

 

 

Can anyone vouch for this story or is this a story?
