       ive had it happen several times to me, once i went drag racing
and it cost me a set of rod and main brgs. in a 426 hemi [thinned out
oil doesnt lube well at high rpm;s], once had an explosion that reversed
the valley gasket and took the oil pan almost off.
        these all happened back in the 70's, and i havent run a stock
fuel pump since the hemi, electric only, a lot harder to load the
crankcase with gas.
          he needs to change fuel pump, oil and filter,, QUICKLY!!!!!!!
