Re: [Chrysler300] Bent / Stuck Valve

Hi Richard,

IMHO the small gouge in the piston is nothing to worry about, I don't think
the valve is strong enough to hurt the piston with only a small ding like
that, de-burring it is the right thing to do.

Just off the top of my head, it sounds as though when the engine got hot,
that valve seized in the guide. It may be worthwhile to have that guide,
and the others as well, verified that they were reamed for proper
clearance. I don't know how hot the engine actually was, but I have had a
couple of RB engines VERY hot over the years and never noticed any adverse
aftereffects. They weren't just overhauled, that may had meant more
clearances for expansion. Wasn't that the head that lost the freeze plug,
might have gotten extra hot, you might want to have the head surface
verified as well.

Have you tried a Mopar specialist for the freeze plugs? I get mine from
Mancini Racing to Florida in about 3 days, brass or steel. I have never
had a problem. The oldest B/RB block I have worked on is a '67, but I
don't think the holes changed diameter. I guess I will find out when I do
my old 350.

Good Luck,

Bill Huff
