I recently bought a C-300 from a fellow in Omaha and he was as nervous 
as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.  He, too had been 
offered more than his asking price with him then to send some of the 
excess to a third party for overseas shipping costs or somesuch.  It 
would have involved a phony or stopped cashier's check on the buyer's 
part and a lost cash advance to the transporter on the buyer's part.  An 
out and out scam that the FBI is investigating.  His banker was leery of 
giving possession of the car on presentation of my cashier's check and 
recommending him wait five-ten days until my cashier's check had cleared 
before giving me the car.  This was unacceptable to me.  In the end, 
funds were wired to his account the same day my transporter picked up 
the car and all is well.

I kind of thought cashiers checks were like Krugerrands, but they can be 
phony and also stopped.

Run, do not walk from this deal.  Your local FBI may be interested in 
receiving a copy of the guy's e-mail.
