Ah you are really REALLY good Mr Nowosacki!
Chrysler began work on it's first HEMI engine in 1939 under contract to the government to build an AIRCRAFT engine that had twice the available HP of engines of the time...
Six years under development, the new engine (XI-2220) was first flown in it's new airframe (XP-47H) in July 1945... Actually 56 months from concept to completed engine.
Note the XP-47H was built by Republic (formerly Severski) Aircraft on Long Island...
The XI-2220 was an INVERTED Hemi V-16, 2220CUI, producing 2500 HP! It looked like two V-8s pasted together (two crank shafts!) with a prop reduction gear in the center of the block. Chrysler also designed the engine with individually machined cylinders versus one solid block.. It was supercharged, turbocharged, and had an intercooler. Compression was a whopping 6.5:1!!!
There are THREE remaining examples of engine AND XP-47H.
1.) The National Air Museum in Washington, DC
2.) The Walter P. Chrysler Museum
3.) -get this- at the NEW ENGLAND AIR MUSEUM (Hartford airport)!!! Whoooo hoooo - been there!

It was first formally introduced in a production car in 1951, but early development began in 1935. I bet it was available in some WW2 vehicle, maybe even a tank.

Okay Chrysler fans...
What year did Chrysler draw up plans for what would be it's first HEMI?
What was it?
Any idea where you can SEE one today?
Hint: there are THREE left in the world...
