We used to just wash the cap out with gasoline, then blow it dry with compressed air, and reoil the element with some 30w motor oil. It might be a good idea to find out why the engine is blowing pressure out the breather cap first. If the PCV valve and hoses are in good shape you shouldn't have a problem with smoke coming out the breather.
