George,

I've had a 300G reproduction grille medallion installed in my G since 1986.
The previous medallion was installed with an epoxy and fell out within 2
years.  Yes,  RTV is silicone sealer/glue.  I believe it stands for Room
Temperature Vulcanization and GE invented it.  The bottom line is, I highly
recommend it based solely on experience...what better teacher?  It sticks
great and has had no negative affect on my medallion.

RTV ??? Is that a type of silicon adhesive or sealant?? I have asked about
RTV at numerous outlets and they tell me that all they know of is RTV
Silicon sealant. However, I have heard that silicon will also damage these
medallions.... Please help!!!

Very sorry to hear of your problem with the adhesive.  RTV is the best way
to go as it isn't solvent based like the 3M stuff is.  The RTV provides a
flexible cushion for the medallion as well.
