Hi Rob and All:
I like to designate the new sedan a 300c, making use of the lower case "c".
There cannot ever be another 300C. We owners of those great cars know
that!!!!! Anyone out there with other/better ideas on designation??? (I'm sure the
new car is a fine car---just not a 300C)

It would have been great if they'd waited 'til next year ... ''C300'' could have been a 50th anniversary tribute.

Keep it in perspective guys, this guy is producing an after market
accessory , not selling genuine parts for our cars. All you really need to
decide is if you want such a thing on your car and if it is of sufficient
quality to warrant the purchase price. As far as his apparent arrogant
attitude and his ignorance of Chrysler products(Kelsey Hayes wheels on a
Chrysler?) you need to consider the source, if he turns you off just don't
buy his product.

I bought some original C300 wire wheels on ebay over a year ago for what I
think was a small fortune. They were straight but faded of course. Can't
wait to see what the chromer wants !

My guess is that this guy is selling wheels that WHeel Vintiques in
California makes. But I'm not sure.

He's got awfully good feedback (perfect, in fact) for someone who is
supposedly such a jerk, but again I have no idea as I have never dealt with
him brfore to my knowledge.

My point is that I doubt that these wheels will end up being more expensive
than going the all original route like I am. And they DEFINITELY provide
the buyer with a lot more convenience delivered to your door and ready to
bolt on the same day !

And my other point is - once again - that people reproducing parts for our
Brutes (or saving them from the crusher in salvage yards) are not our
enemies ! Even if we have to deal with jerks pretty often, where would we
all be without them ?

Anyone who wants to build a huge machine shop in their backyard, start a
salvage yard in their front yard, and wow us all with their customer service
is free to try if they wish.

Until then I'll remind you that we're still "stuck" with the dwindling
number of guys who bother to try and offer us anything at all.

Sean.

Good Afternoon,

I, for one, enjoy reading all the responses to the various member
inquiries. Much of the information passed back and forth on this list
applies across several years rather than just to one model or year of
300. I would encourage appropriate responses be posted on the list for the
edification of all who care to read them.

For those who find that the volume of responses (or even questions
perhaps?) is too great, I would suggest they use the delete button or get
one of several free mail accounts, such as Hotmail, and receive their
Chrysler 300 list mail there in order to leave their primary mail account
clutter free.

Dear List,

I LIKE to see responses to 300 related questions directed to the list and
not just the individual alone. The simple reason being is that many of us
want to become more familiar with all 300s, not just the one we own. I
enjoyed the conversation about Batwing air cleaners on the early cars, even
though I don't own one.

Frankly, I find it a bit irritating when I find out that a 300 question was
posted, and an answer was not given through the list server, but directly to
the person that asked the question. The purpose of this list is to
disseminate information to all participants, not just the person that posted
the question. I'm not talking about personal issues or if someone has a
certain part they are looking for and someone has it, that should remain
between the two parties for obvious reasons. But general 300 discussion,
"how to" answers, general 300 part availability questions, all make for
good useful list postings that may not be of interest to all but some.

If the 300 related topic is not of interest to you, use your delete key!

Gil, and all,
My personal opinion is that DC should carry on the letters in progression.
300N !!!
The history books will no doubt refer to the real letter cars as Brutes and
the latter ones, M and so on, as Chrysler's noble attempt at nostalgia. It's
not just the fins and the "in your face" power and performance that makes these
cars great, it's also the acceptance and excitement that ownership brings. I
certainly don't want to spend mega-bucks on a new car if it drives and handles
like my 300H, but it sure is fun to take the H out for a weekend drive. As I
get older, I appreciate the things on my daily driver, like cruise control,
power everything, traction control, air bags, quiet ride, etc.

One hundred percent agreement. The recent example on insurance I am certain
enlightened many of us.

It would be a pretty boring site to see someone's question or problem and
never see the intelligent(and sometimes not to bright responses) feedback
from our members.

I use outlook express and have 3 email accounts set up on it. One I give to
everyone, the one I use for this listsrv is less frequently given out, and
another very few folks have.

I can log on to any one of the 3 and check them for messages. I believe
that if someone wishes to not have listsrv messages mixed in with their
business or private missives that they set up an alternate mailbox for
listsrv.

I recently posted a message on crankcase ventilation, and received several
valuable tips privately that I am sure that other subscribers would also
have found of interest. Even though I do not have a 300 F or C 300, I am
always interested in problems and solutions that these folks may experience,
as one day I may have one of these cars and as I save all interesting emails
in a private folder, I can if I ever acquire one of these vehicles, research
this folder for tips and solutions.

I did receive a private message from someone the other day on this topic.
His quote was "I agree with 100% Roger!!!! some of these tight ??????'s need
to relax"

I just did a "Google" and found well over 50 whole pages of references to these products including the main company:
http://www.303products.com/main.php

Just go to this site, hit the "where to buy" button, enter your zip code and they will tell you the nearest dealer. Or, they will sell it to you direct and charge you shipping.

As far as a personal recommendation for where to buy, I cannot help you.

Thanks,

Subject: Re: judging

Ben,

I've been judging body and paint for several years.

I think you can get a blank judging form from the Club office. It'll list all the catagories and point deductions for each item. Judges will often have a minimum and maximum point deduction for a judged item. They can use their discretion. Some deductions are standard. An example of a standard deduction is a non-original paint color (not the color the car came with for -50 I believe) and a non-authentic color (It was never a Chrysler color at all -100).

Peoples choice judging has several catagories of cars sorted by year. Just the highest popular vote totals gets the awards. A car popularity contest more or less as viewed by the club members. Nothing official here.

Driven cars are judged with the trailered cars. Don't think for a minute though that the trailered cars judge any better. From my own experience a little dirt or a few bugs are going to get a lot less attention than bad body work or the wrong color paint. As far as improvements, its at your discretion. Some will be seen and judged. Others may not be noticed. For example I have a devil of a time distinguishing between some the new base/clear coat and the single stage paints. Short of scratching the paint off I can't tell. Don't worry, that's not part of the judging process.

The club hopes to establish the standard for the car as it was built. Its just a single viewpoint. There are lots of others. All owners have to make choices during the ownership/restoration. The trophies are nice but your are the one that need to be satisified with your work. Also, the judging process is only a part of the meet experience. On average only 5-10 cars are entered in concours each year. Don't think we talk badly about the people who won't submit to judging! Now if you paint your car plum crazy and install a slant six some members may want to discuss it with you...

Hi all

Been on holiday recently and had a little time to do some reading. One article was a road test by Tom McCahill on the 300C. He mentions his test car to be a white h/top equipped with the 390hp motor, automatic, manual windows & steering.
I thought there were only two 390hp auto cars produced for Carl Kiekhaefer. Is this a slip up my Uncle Tom or does this car really exist/existed?

Thanks

The '57 300C came with a standard 375hp 392 cubic inch engine.
The 390hp version was an available option.

Hi, 300 Aficionados:

I can't help with this question, but would ask of the historians whether
anyone remembers or has a copy of an old Tom McCahill article on early
300's that stated the 300's had been used as pursuit cars on the
Pennsylvania turnpike in the mid-50's. As a teen, I was impressed by
the cars and the story and seem to recall a detail that nothing ever out
ran their 300's--except a big Mercedes Benz, driven by a German
national. My memory (perhaps faulty) of that story continues to fuel my
current interest in acquiring a C300 or a 300B. I'd be grateful for any
leads on the story or the cars.

In the mean time,

I can tell you that the Park Police in Potomic State Park in MD, had at
least the "C" engines in several patrol cars. In 1957, my best bud bought a
'57 fury, and established quite a rep in the area. We finally came across
the Park Police and they had quietly been racing with the boys. If they won,
you got a ticket, If you won, you kept going. Usually done at night, and
there wasn't many straight roads in the park, so it was quite exciting.
Long story short, we won, and they wanted to compare cars. I saw the dual
quads, and I think 3" exhaust. I don't think it was a "C", but it could have
been. I'm sure it was a 2 door hardtop. Close, but we beat them, probably
due to the Fury being lighter.

There was also a '57 Ford coupe with a factory supercharger that ran all the
cops ragged..........but that's another story for the meet.

Hope to see all y'all in PA in May!

Subject: '59 Chrysler window sticker

Club Members,

I was lucky enough to recently purchase a 300E Conv. from the original owner.
Since this car was originally a factory executive driven car, it didn't come
with a window sticker. I got the bug to make one for it & bought a
reproduction blank off Ebay. Does anyone on the list have a window sticker that I can get
a copy of to use for the basic format & spacing. Any model Chrysler will do
for what I want to use it for.

Thanks,

At the risk of offending someone, sorry, but yes. it is a big help when
someone asks a question, and i am needing, or curious, about the same thing. Many
times, as the what color should this part be, or my car is doing this syndrome.
It also gives leads to find related things, or questions one didnt know had.
All in all, yes, it is necessary to respond to the club address. If it really
does bother you so much, read teh subject line, and with literally one click-
erase it. thats just how i feel, tim
ps, sorry to the person i sent this to just now, i ( here comes teh stupid
cliche' ), sent it to a private address on accident, sorry
tim

In 1958, I was living in Levittown, PA. I don't remember the make of pursuit
car used on the Pennsy Turnpike, but I had first-hand experience with a
trooper on the Jersey Turnpike. Driving with a bit of alacrity (in my 1954
Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe) returning from NYC, I was stopped by a trooper
driving a 1957 or 58 Saratoga. Not only was I stopped, but I was given a
ride to the local magistrate. Despite being agitated at being stopped, the
ride in the Saratoga was very exciting. I remember watching the speedometer
as we sped at over 100 MPH to the nearest town.

Sorry too, but I also wish I did not get copied on every email. I travel
several days a week and my email is choked with emails regarding information
I neither need nor want. Especially when it is about things like the new
300C, and whether it is liked or disliked. I realize I am now adding to the
clutter, but perhaps there are others out there who feel the same way.
Perhaps there ought to be a way to opt in for all, or just specific email
that pertains to the car you own or real club news that everyone should see.
Thanks for allowing me to input my feelings.

My short comment is that I am on this list server to get information that will
help me maintain, restore, and operate my Chrysler 300. More information is
good. As long as the subject line is clear ("300B air cleaner help") I can
easily delete the ones that have no bearing on my car. Many times (like the
recent 300K disc brake conversion conversation), somebody asked a question I
am very much interested in, and I really appreciate being able to read the
responses. Thanks to all club members who take the time to offer their advice
or perspective, whether I was the one that asked or not!

That's my dos pesos.
