Subject: 300C Front Brakes (take six)

Greetings Chrysler 300 Club Members:

My 300C no longer pulls to the left when braking and the right front brake
no longer locks up when coming to a dead stop! What a joy! To this I say
THANK YOU to the many club members that answered my emails with
suggestions for help. I would particularly like to thank George McKovich
who had the spare parts and could let them go. He took the time to take
them off a vehicle, clean them up, and mail them to me for the cost of
postage!

The New Yorker right front dust shield and brake support plate bolted
right up (after cleaning and painting) and everything else fit perfectly.
The New Yorker brake support plate is slightly different in appearance
looking more like "normal duty" than the "heavy duty" looking 300C plate.
The concealed spring link on the 300C brake support plate bent causing my
problem and my bet is there is nothing heavy duty about this spring. It's
probably the same as the New Yorker piece.

I am very happy to be beyond this problem. My first project after taking
the car from storage next year will be to get the brake pedal up where it
belongs. Until then, I'll dream sweet dreams about driving my 300C.

Sincerely,

Mark Schueller

Have used synthetic in my 68 with no problems. I did
add a tube of sure grip additive.

Does anyone on the list have a subscription to, or current copy of, the
Old Cars Price Guide? I'm dealing with my insurance company on a damage
claim and need a value form the guide. No, fortunately this is not on my
300G.

Thanks in advance.

If you decide to go with steel wheels I have a few Imperial
wheel covers that we can convert with new centers.

Subject: K transmission cooler lines

HI, All,

I just received fuel lines and brake lines for my ram K from Inline Tube.

They look great, but this company doesn't have the patterns for trans
cooler
lines for this car. Mine are too messed up to use for a pattern, so does
anyone
know if there's another tubing company who might have these lines
ready-made?

Thanks,

George Clineman

I have a set of Wheel Vintiques wire wheeels with Coker WW on
http://www.coker.com/ my G and I will never ever change to any thing
else, it become twice as good to look at and twice as good to drive.
As all others there was lot of balance weights especially as I refused
to have any weights on the outside of the wheels. The result could be
seen at; http://hem.passagen.se/chrysler300g/

If any listservant can answer me in the next hour, I'll buy a cocktail at
next meet Where does one look on the 70 383 engine for the engine code?
Peeking
over the radiator at the block......left, right? Bonus points for knowing

what the engine code should be there.

Anything for some booze, Larry.

The engine number is stamped on a boss on top of the engine block, right
in
back of the water pump , on the DRIVER'S side. Under the cylinder head
front
inside corner. It's a diagonally-located pad on the 383 (whereas it's a
horizontal pad on the RB engines such as 413, and 440

Engine code for 1970 383 is : F383 (1969 would be E383 and 1971 would be
G383 and you get the idea.

I'll drink to that.

John

Well my block and heads are just about ready to come home from the
machine shop. That means it's time to make sure I get the colors right
on the engine and and brackets. I know the engine is to be black,
but is it high gloss, semi-gloss or just plain black. Are all the
brackets the same black as the engine? also what about the A/C
compressor? What color is the drive shaft and U- Joints. Oh its a
1960 300F.

    Thanks in advance- Gary Barker
