Who at chrysler engineering decided to have the 392 hemi head cooling
passages meet the valve cover stud holes?!?
I made the unfortunate discovery last week while firing-up the C
rag...sans
valve covers...lovely green fountains cascading over the rockers. Very
nice
surprise.
--Anybody know if they also have the coolant passages meeting the exhaust
manifold stud holes? Should head/block studs/bolts be oiled before
install? Just wondered. Thanks. mv

Rich, How much space between the heater hoses and clamps to the firewall?
Most heater tubes thru the firewall have a small hole on the bottom side
about an inch from the end of the metal tube. That lets you start the
noses
on and bleed the air out of the heater core and then when the air is
expelled and fluid runs from the hole the hoses should be pushed almost to
the firewall and the clamp close enough to the firewall to seal off the
bleed hole when tightened. If your hose and/or clamp isn't close to the
firewall, try loosening the clamp and moving hose and clamp closer and see
if this solves the problem. It only takes a few minutes and sure beats
pulling the heater core out and after checking and not finding any leaks,
THEN noticing the bleed holes.

Subject: Which Filiment?
I should probably know this, since my father was an engineer for Tung-Sol
and made millions of these. On a typical 1157 bulb, which filament is
normal on, and which is for brake/signal. When I rewired the car, I
copied
what was there, but I suspect its bass-ackwards. The shorter, lower
filament is on, and the upper longer filament is brake/signal. When the
lights are on, you can hardly notice the brake/signal. I hard-grounded the
sockets with a wire lead.
