Hi 300ites,

I am searching for a replacement water pump idler pulley for my 1963 413.
It hangs between the alternator mounting and the water pump and tensions
the water pump belt. It seems Mother MoPar built the thing (bearing, D
shaped stud, and pulley) such that it cannot be disassembled, and the
bearing on the one I have is shot. Anybody know a source for these? They
must have made a jillion of them back then, but I am having no luck so
far.

Thanks and cheers,
Doug Jones

Hi Doug,

Contact George Riehl directly - he'll rebuild your idler pulley for you
and
do a wonderful job of it. . Seems your car has a/c, correct? Idler
pulleys
only on a/c cars.

John

  Help
Does anyone know if you can change this style of a/c over to 134A. I
was wondering if you must jump thru any hoops if it's possible. I was
told I would have to remove the valve on top of the pump and install a
thermostat in the system. Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks
Neal

Hi all.

Does anyone have any experience with building a car rotiserrie. Would
like to build one for my "G" restoration.
Any design or helpful direction would be appreciated.

300'ly

Dan D.

Hi Dan,

By far the most ingenious "rotisserie" I have come upon is that designed
by
Greg Leggatt... based on a '57 Dodge full-size car frame... it is cheap,
providing one has such a frame handy... actually almost any car or pickup
frame could be used just as easily. It is simple in design and execution,
and supports the unibody of a 300F or 300G or other unibodies in exactly
the
same manner as when the car is resting on its wheels.

Greg was generous and kind enough to give me one of these invenshun's (
correct spelling). I used it to restore my 300G, and a 300F. It made
the
task a breeze. Car can be tilted in either direction to work on quarters
or
underbody... and can also be wheeled around behind a trailer hitch...

Anyway, for pictures of Greg's "Invenshun" with 300F mounted, please click

Thanks to Greg Leggatt...

Steve-
Your L should have linkage for the kick down and if it is not adjusted
properly it affects the shift point and quality. As far as a cable check
with Imperial services- they are reproducing the shift cables, not cheap
but
obtainable. Both shift and park cables. If you need email address for them
email me direct. Joe Pierce 300Kx3+J+M+others.

According to the Chrysler dealer these parts "are not available".

Joe:

I know there is linkage for the kickdown which we have adjusted but the
problem recurs (more below). I was told by my mechanic there is also a
cable
(presumably between the linkage and the pedal) which could be the source
of
the problem. Does that make sense to you? Specifically, what happens is 1.
downshifting to second when it shouldn't and 2. not upshifting to third
when
it should. Also, it does not seem to behave consistently the same way.

I will contact Imperial about the shifter cable.

Thanks,

Steve Galezowski

Steve,
I know you guys just adjusted the throttle ( kickdown ) linkage but it
still sounds like the problem. Check it again and verify that it is
returning to idle position on its own and not binding up or sticking.
Problems with the gear shift cable usually manifest themselves as slipping

and poor shifting, due to insufficient oil pressure, from the manual valve

not being properly positioned.
