Subject: Replacement Coils
A few years ago I ordered a new coil from a company I think in Florida.
They had reproduced the greenish stamping info as original and were using
brand new MoPar coils. Perfect repro. They were offered on a long and
short coil depending on your application. Actually I provided them with
close-up photography of the '57 coil for them to reproduce the early 12V
stamp.
Now, all I have to do to be helpful is recall their name and address!
Anyone else familiar with this outfit? I don't know if they are still
around. They probably advertise to the MoPar muscle crowd if they are.

Happy New Year to one and all!
As many of you know I've been trying to find a coil for my H that has the
number 2084847 on it. This is the number specified in the parts book and
was
used from 1960-1964. I recently had a coil sent to me from a fellow who
said
it came off a '62 Chrysler. It has 1688212 for the part number and an
Auto-Lite number 200567. I looked in the service manual on page 8-6 and I
found the 1688212 number and the 200567 listed on the chart as the correct
coil for my car. What happened to the 2084847 number? Does it appear
anywhere on the coil? Does a coil with this number actually exist? If
any
of you have a 1960-1964 300 that has an original coil (or if you have the
original coil somewhere in a box) would you please let me know what the
numbers are that on the coil? I really would like to put an original coil
on
my H but I do want to know which one is correct.

Gary Nelson at GLNELSON.COM makes a wonderful set of masks making painting
of
the wheel covers on 57/58 300's possible. However, the the painter finds
it
difficult to prepare the stainless to receive and hold the paint in the
many
squares. Any suggestions as to what chemical or process can be used to
give
the paint a "grip" in these squares without damaging the rest of the cap?

Hi Mike, my 61 Newport which I believe is all original with 68,000 miles
has
a coil with the number 1688212 and 200567 on it. I do not know the
history
of the car before 1976 so at one time it could have been replaced from 61
to
76. I hope that I may have been some help.

Okay guys, so the answer to who does (or did) the coil reproductions is in
my own 300C Handbook.
