" A friend of mine has sent me some pics of a '55 Crown Imperial (yes the limo..) which is stored outside since several years under a cover in France !! What a pity ! As you expect the car needs resto .. My friend would buy the car but not at the price the owner wants .. Last night I had a SMALL chance to get the carbs I NEED on e-bay. The first bid I put in went just fine, BUT it was "hosed up city" when it was time to re-bid. Couldn't get this darn thing cleared up until it was once again "TOO LATE" you missed it time. DRATS, Darn, and Pooie. So tonight I'm sitting here and the phone rings, Guy is calling because he knows I need 2 carbs. Drats, seems he was the wining bidder on a chebby setup that had 57 Fury carbs on it and wanted to know if I was interested. Yes he now knows that they aint chebby carbs, manifold is right but carbs aint. Anyway I still am looking for 2534S and 2535S Carter WCFB caruretors. I do have available a pair of 2314S Carter WCFB caruretors with tags which are correct for 55 Chrysler 2x4 setups. -- Paul Holmgren Hoosier Corps #33, L-6 2 57 300-C's in Indy ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 3 Date: Tue, 04 Dec 2001 22:26:51 +0100 From: Philippe COURANT <accf_clb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: '55 french Crown Imp. : infos Hi, I have received several messages about the '55 Crowm Imp: conditions ? Is the car for sale ? etc.. First i 'll describe the conditions of the car (as said the friend who took the pics and who is a "perfectionist"..): The car is in bad shape: rust on all lower body, the paint is in bad conditions and peels off, no infos about mechanic parts but the car sat from several years outside and the engine is probably stucked.. All the pot-metal parts have pittings: headlight rings, upper windshield molding are in bad conditions. All chrome parts need rechroming. Windshield is broken. Wheelcovers are not original. Some side moldings has been affixed with screws .. Right front fender molding is not original. Front seat needs new leather upholstery, rear seat (and folding seats) are in good conditions. Seems that all parts are there. The car was formerly a belgian embassy car. Don't know if the car has a french or belgian tittle. My friend says that you have to spend around $ 20.000 to restore the car to # 1.5 to 2 conditions. As the owner wants $ 14.000 for the car he thinks that itsn't reasonable. He proposes to the owner $ $ 4000 and he's waiting for an answer. If he doesn't want a car i'll let you know the whereabouts of the seller (e-mail me privatly but not before 01/15/2002). -- Philippe COURANT (Pau, France) Imperial 57 Crown convertible Buick 58 Roadmaster sedan - American Car Club de France (ACCF) : http://www.accf.com - Chrysler Imperial France : http://www.ifrance.com/c-i-f - Cadillac " Standard of Excellence " : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-cad - SportsCars : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-sprtcar ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 4 Date: Tue, 4 Dec 2001 14:53:56 -0800 (PST) From: Andy Mikonis <r41hp@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Your 300H Desperately seeking 300H stories. I wish I had a VIN number but I don't and ... Dad's gone, Mother's very old and has no records and even the insurance agency that served our small town has long since gone out of business. I'm just curious to know whether someone on this list owns the 1959 300E that Dad purchased new from Karr Chrysler Plymouth in Herrin, Illinois. It was a cloud white coupe with a beige leather interior (as I remember). My Dad's name was Herbert V. Fine and his address was Carterville, Illinois. The original Illinois license tag number was 557-807. I remember that distinctly because Dad always used his Army serial number for his "personalized license plate" until Illinois went alpha-numeric. I suspect that people who love the 300s as I do ... especially the "E" might just have a documented history, and I'd give quite a bit to be able to sit in that driver's seat one more time and hold the steering wheel that he held. Dad was a very simple man who came out of a very poor, orphaned childhood. He didn't smoke; he didn't drink; he didn't gamble and to my knowledge, he didn't fool around :-) He never invested in stocks or property or anything most financial planners would consider prudent ... but he loved Chryslers and he loved "fast." He had an E and H ... I'm trying to find the E. It's my last link to him. Maybe ... just maybe I'll get lucky and find that someone who loves that car, today, as much as he did and as much as I still do? Time will tell.
