List,

Martha found a red 300C at KMART last night.  It was a Route 66.  Next to it was a white C300 NASCAR.  It was a Mercury Outboard with Tim Flock's name on the roof.  It was not Route 66.  Both are 1/64th.

I have used these people for a two barrel carb for my 63 Dodge Polara
Convertible. They sold me a NOS carb for less than two hundred dollars. It
was in the original box and seemed in great shape. It still is on the car
with no repairs required so far. The purchase was about four years ago. They
seem to be good people and have a great amount of knowledge about the carbs
of yesteryear. Quentin Smith

Subject: Exhaust Manifold--Added Info

Hello again,

You have all been very helpful so far.  I have more information to confuse
the issue.

Manifolds that have been mentioned have casting number 1945546 on them  I
went out and looked at the broken manifold and it has casting number 1739599
on it.  Of course, I suppose that the manifold could have been changed at
some time or other, and perhaps the wrong manifold was installed at that
time, since it was by that time "Just an old car".

Can anyone find the CORRECT number for me?  If I'm looking, I might as well
be looking for the right thing.

Thanks again,

According to Gil Cunningham's decoding of my data
plate, my car came equipped with an accessory group
that included a vanity Mirror. I just acquired one on
Ebay and noticed that both visors had marks where a
mirror had been installed. Did the option include two
mirrors? Perhaps the original owners moved it
around!!!

Any sound info or opinions?

Hi Tom, and whoever else..

My only opinion about Steer and Gear is that they charged me $100 LESS to
rebuild a 60 Chrysler steering box, than FirmFeel Inc did during the same
year.  Both companies did satisfactory work, but a big price difference
between the two.  Steer and Gear gets my business from now on.  Quick
turnaround, too !

If anyone needs an exhaust manifold fixed, There is a shop in the home town
that does excellent work welding cast pieces. He has done a couple for me
and you can't even tell that they have been repaired. He can even build them
up where a bolt flange has been broken off, mill it and drill it and its
good to go.

I would be happy to assist in any way. Just e-mail me directly

Hello, All,
It seems that there is an epidemic of broken exhaust manifolds. Last week
Nick Nichols needed one in Beautiful San Francisco, and now I find that I,
too need one!
I need the passenger side (The one with the manifold heat control valve.),
to
fit a 1959 Chrysler Saratoga. It is the 383 cubic inch Raised B engine, with

the generator bracket holes cast into it.
Thanks in advance.....

For the best job contact Timo Tanskanan who advertises in all 300 newsletters.  May cost a little more but worth it if you want a steering box that will look as good mounted on your coffee table as well as in your car and will function perfectly.

I know that Clarence Bacon of Las Vegas has done this on his c300 and a fellow in San Fran(forget his name for now but he owned a bunch of car dealerships in San Fran) also did on his c300.  He sponsored the Calif. Mila Miglia and ran his c300 in it against all the European sports cars such as Alfa, Ferrari, Jaguar and kept with them very well except for the 300 brakes.  He then converted them to disc's.  Name will come to me soon.  He no longer owns the car but it is still floating around out there somewhere with big numbers stenciled on the doors giving the car entry number.  Larry Jett will remember his name.  I actually found the car for this fellow when he approached me one time asking about 55 or 56's(I have a 56) telling me that he wished to run one in his Mila Miglia.

Another fellow advertises that he does these cars for disc brakes.  I believe he is in the Stockton or Modesto, Ca area.  I found info on him thru one of the 300 websites.

Just found info.  The company is called Dominator Inc. in Oakley Calif.  Tel number is 510-625-9235.  Claims to have disc conversion kits for 55 and 56's.

Roger,
According to information I have the 300B had 9 ratios available starting at
3.07 and higher to 4.89.   Nothing below 3.07.    Mine has the 3.07 (good for
the Flying Mile!).
Best way to find one is put out a "wanted" to all Mopar clubs as well as the
Club's publications so it will get to everyone.

Hi Don,
Welcome to the club!  And many congratulations on being the proud new owner
of a Chrysler 300.  Allan and I along with Eleanor Riehl and Gil Cunningham
have amassed historical data on many 300's
over the years.  And we enjoy sharing the information we have with our
fellow club
members about their 300.

You bought the C from Larry Carrel (California).  Larry bought the car in
1993 from Bill Preston (California) who bought the car in the early '80's
from R.R. Kretschmer.  Our records do not go back any further than that.

All of our information comes from you - the club members.  The old Clearing
House which used to advertise cars for sale and cars wanted, for club
members and as a service to the club is not needed any more.  No one really
wants to junk a 300 and that was the prime motivation for the Clearing
House.  But what to do with a filing cabinet full of historical data?  We
sure didn't throw it away!  In fact, we made an Archive Form similar to the
old Evaluation form so you can tell us all about your 300 - who owned it,
what the options are, how it looks and runs.  I guess it's time to ask the
club editor to re-run the form if he has the room.  (OK Andy?)

300ly,
Allan & Gloria Moon
-Two 300 Nuts -

PS:  Don, we're informal here.  I am just Gloria.

Hi Gloria (speaking informally) -

You may consider putting the form on the website,
possibly in pdf format. That way, it'll print out
exactly as it looks and be available to anyone that
needs one.
