A great thank's to all who answered on my brake-problem, I think and hope
it's solved now. It was aparantly wrong material in the new linings that
was
put on the brakeshoes. They have changed the linings and I have driven the
car and it seems to work fine. Hope it lasts. Once again thanks, this is a
fantastic CLUB!
Sincerely Ivan from Sweden...

Chuck, etc.

I have the Route 66 300C in Red (approximately Regimental Red) and was
wondering if the ones you found are in any other color(s).
Anyone else?

Wayne

For any one who hasn't seen it there is a 57 300 C 1/64 model for sale by
Route 66 toy co. Look for it in the match box section. Trunk and hood
opens
sells for 4.99. I bought an extra if anyone wants one for that price plus
shipping. I found them at K Mart. Really nice detail. They also have a 70
plymouth fury,& dodge daytona but could not find those as yet. Will keep
looking. Chuck

Subject: 62 Brake upgrade

Hi All,
I hope someone is online. I need to redo the front brakes on my 62. I've
heard the stories of upgrading to a 63 and up drum brake assemblies. I was

wondering if this is an easy upgrade. I've found the parts off a 64 300. I

figure I'll need everything from the spindles up. I can buy these used
parts
for less than all the new parts for my existing brakes. Any help would be
appreciated, fast. I want to go and get the parts soon. The car's on the
lift
at the front end shop and this is the time to put these pieces in.

Thanks,
Sean Duggan

Subject: Exhaust Manifold Needed

Hello, All,

It seems that there is an epidemic of broken exhaust manifolds. Last week

Nick Nichols needed one in Beautiful San Francisco, and now I find that I,

too need one!

I need the passenger side (The one with the manifold heat control valve.),
to
fit a 1959 Chrysler Saratoga. It is the 383 cubic inch Raised B engine,
with
the generator bracket holes cast into it.

Thanks in advance.....

Hi Sean,

Since all 1962 Chryslers are short wheelbase (except for 62 NewYorker) ,
63
and 64 brakes will fit it nicely ( same size balljoints ) and are MUCH
superior to the 62 units, in that they only have one wheel cylinder per
corner. Much less fuss and muss, etc. ; some 1963/4 models have heavier
duty brakes ( larger & wider drums) such as NYker and 300 - and therefore
are a better idea than Newport units...

You will need the spindle and everything that fits on it, of course, as
well
as the steering arm from the donor car... the replacement spindle will
fit
right up to the existing ball joints, and the steering arm will fit right
up
to the outer tie rods, you shouldn't even have to get the car realigned.

300'ly
John

Subject: Info. Needed on Potential Stainless Fabricator

Pretty sure we are missing the unique to convertible stainless pieces that
go around below the top in back for our 56 New Yorker Cvt. Not having
much luck finding anyone who fabricates stainless. Found lcars in
Cameron, WI, www.lcars.com in the Novermber hemmings, pg. 7218. Received
a telephone response to my e-mail today. Sounds like an upright guy.
Anyone ever used this company. The fellow with whom I spoke was Blane
Downer(perhaps misspelled). He can do the pieces after making a mold.
Pricey but not stratospheric considering I haven't found anyone else.

Questions:: Ever heard/know of/have experience with this company???

Have any other recommendations for stainless steel fabricators?

Want to come to our garage an help me search high and low for the
pieces??? Seller says they were with the car. I'm not as organized as
some, I confess, but I do not misplace unique convertible parts, at least
not yet, so I fear the worst.

Have a spare set of stainless pieces that wrap around the rear window for
55/56 Chrysler or DeSoto converts? Okay, after you have a good laugh,
maybe someone actually does?????

Thanks for your time. Really would appreciate feedback if there is any
out there.

Henry Hopkins, Berkeley, aka for now "Desparately Searching Stainless"

BTW--do have a set from my DeSoto to use as a model for the fabricator so
all is not totally lost.

Wayne,

I have a black one, purchased from Toys R Us. It says Ertl on the bottom,
so I don't know if it the same manufacturer or not. It came with a little
display stand. It's 1/64th. I don't know if it is Route 66 or not.

Hi to all,
Add this site to your favorites if you wish.
This site has cross reference for just about any carb number and they also
have rebuild kits. They also rebuild and sell carbs. I have never
purchased
anything from them so I can not vouch for them. I have so far only used
their site for cross reference info.

Subject: '59-'62 12" rear brake drum needed - 1 or 2

Hola amigos. Seeking one or two 1959-1962 Chrysler, Desoto, Dodge or
Plymouth 12" rear brake drums for my H. Both have worn beyond turning and
one is quite warped/bent.

These are the hub/drum units with a 12-inch inside diameter and 3-inch
inside width. According to the manual, they would be found on almost any
mopar model/make with the heavy duty brakes - except Imperial.

Please help. I don't want to have to take a ford product to the last
cruise-in of the year!! Eeegads! Thanks a bunch.

Maybe he could do other projects too; such as the various rear-end trim
for '60 & '61 Chryslers...
