I believe it is 1634285. According to an email I got a year ago from a
guy
who had one.

I can't look at the actual one on the C300 cause I am many miles away from

it right now..

Sean.

Hi All,

1731 686 is the number according to my parts book. They are the same, with
or
without A/C for both years . All the Best 300ing,

That is the correct number, I have an intake manifold off a 300 B and dual

carbs for sale. This is the number on the bottom of the intake manifold,
not
on top. Quentin Smith

Looks like a typo in the American V8 book !!!!! It had 1741686 instead of
1731686.

According to Hollander's Classic edition

1731686 fits either '55 or '56 with or without AC as noted in a previous
email.

Here is an interesting article about the vehicular losses of 9-11 from
private vehicles to fire trucks.

Mike,

All 300Ls came with the small (called "unsilenced" by Chrysler)
aircleaner.
They have a small snorkel tube, which on all cars other than California,
is
covered by a rubber or plastic cap. For California cars, a hose ran from
the snorkel to the PCV valve.

The aircleaner should be semi-gloss black with a black cap.

manifold
is 1634285, sorry I did not include it in my previous email. Quentin Smith
