The 9's would indicate special order paint combination. The 7 throws me
unless it is the trim, which would be off white.

Subject: Paint codes for 62
Hi all,
Does anybody know what the paint code 997 means. I thought 999 was the
custom
color code. The color of the car is mint green (what I can see under
various
other colors).
Thanks,
Sean

Sean, just a possibility. If your starter bolts were loose and missing,
that
would explain the solenoid not disengaging from the flywheel. As for your
wire being burned up.......what is a starter motor being driven by an
engine? A generator with no regulator. Could have run long enough to
produce enough current to fry the wire. Have you tried replacing the
wire(s)
yet? Just my two cents worth but Electrical is certainly not my specialty.
Good luck.
Ryan.

Subject: Carlisyle Question
Hi all,
Forgive my ignorance but I'm wondering if the club has
any designated space and/or functions at the Carlisyle
Meet next weekend, or whether the club confines its
activites to the "All-Chrysler at Carlyisle Meet" in
July. Or whether it does nothing at either? Or
something at both?
Thanks,
Jonathan

You may be able to temporarily unstick the solinoid (relay) by raping on
it sharply, but replacing it will no doubt be necessary.

Subject: [Chrysler300] Starter Issue
When going to start my car today leaving a store (so
the engine was warm) my starter refused to shut off.
Had to disconnect the battery in order to shut it off.
The large black and smaller brown wire connected to
the starter were not crossed anywhere. While down
there I noticed that I had lost the lower bolt that
attaches the starter to the block and the upper bolt
was very loose. Tightening the remaining bolt made no
difference. Also the small gauge ground wire that was
attached to neg. on the battery and ran to a bolt in
the engine compartment was completely fried
(insulation smoked and charred to a crisp) before I
was able to disconnect the battery. Checked the wires
that plug into ignition, and opened up the relay...
all seemed okay. I ended up disconnecting the brown
wire on the relay. Now the only way to drive my 300 is
to turn the key, pop the hood, touch the brown wire on
the relay till the starter kicks it on then remove the
wire. Any suggestion as to what what is going on, and
or a solution????????? I'm stumped.
Sincerely,
Sean

Hi All,
Can anyone suggest the best type of Permatex
to seal (4) bolt valve cover gaskets on a 383?
Any suggested materials and/or process steps
would be helpful.

Hi,
I know Ron Fryer, he was a member of the Historical Automobile Club of
Oregon of which I am a member. I was not aware that he was doing kits for
the 300's. Its been about a year since I last talked to him. In January
1988
Ron replaced the Vinyl top on my 1970 Imperial Coupe. At that time his
shop
was in his home. He does nice work and is very knowledgeable. He came from
California about 15 years ago. He knew the exact vinyl top material and
the
manufacture of the original vinyl. He removed the back window glass and I
removed all the side window moldings, rubber etc.and them I had all the
rust
removed and painted. Ron then put on the new vinyl top. In his current
shop
which I have not visited, he has one or more employees. His place of
business is in Vancouver, Washington, about 20 miles from my home.
