Theory I'm testing currently is a vacume loss throught
the power brake booster--a possibility first suggested
by club members. As I've said, it would make sense, as
I pulled the booster while the engine was out in order
to paint the engine compartment.
My question is...if I want to test the running of the
engine without the booster in the system, can't I just
close off the vacume line into the booster with my
thumb? Wouldn't that effectively seal the system, and
then if a vacume loss in the booster was the problem,
the engine should begin to run properly?
As always, thanks for the help,
Jonathan
Yes you're on the right track for eliminating a brake booster leak as the
source of your trouble. It would take a fairly significant leak to cause a
problem except at idle.
Good Luck
John Roth
P.S. Anyone out there know of a source for rebuild parts for the '60
brake
booster, leather and rubber parts primarily?

I've had a few people ask about Cracker Barrels because they have are not
familiar with them. Cracker Barrel is a national chain of "down home"
restaurants that always includes a gift shop as their entry. They are all
located along interstates. I really thought they were in every state, but
not quite. And of course I don't know for certain that every store
carries
all the same items across the country.
To locate a Cracker Barrel near you, go to their store locator page on
their
web site:
http://www.crackerbarrel.com/trip-directory.cfm?doc_id=173
These 300E convert ornaments are $3.99 each by the way. Santa can afford
to
collect all three!

Geez Wayne! You mean they are a restaurant? Don't tell my wife! She
thought they were only a gift shop! :-)

This new virus is running rampad. I have been hit no less than 5 times
in the last two days. Seems to catch addresses from the mailing groups.
Make sure you have up to date virus protection! It must also alter the
sender's address as i tried to reply to Terry and it bounced back as an
unknown address.
