I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 413 HP engine used a thermostat that had holes drilled in it to assist in cooling or water flow. So here is my question. Should I obtain a thermostat (180?) from a parts store and modify it? If so, how? These are good quality, high-flow thermostats. Also can someone enlighten me on how the spring link which is "sandwiched" in between the support plate {where your return spring holds on to} is attached to the support plate? One of my brake shoes seems to be dragging this link out with it when the adjuster is turned, yet the other shoe is OK. I hope this makes some sort of sense!! Thanks for the help. Heck I have a whole compete body w/AC (I'll keep the engine) I would dearly like to that much for. I do not know how these junk yards can ask (and Get??) so much when we 300 collectors have a hard time getting that for a complete parts car.
