Subject: Oil Pan Removal.
Hi Group, I need some advice. If I remove the connector link, can the oil
pan then be removed? The serrvice manual lists a special tool to be used. I
assume that tool is the one with the tapered fork end available at most
parts stores. If this is the correct tool, I would appreciate any tips on
it's use. It's for the 413 in my 300H. Doug Warrener

Subject: Great parts
I just received reproduction lenses from Desoto George
in Australia. They are beautiful, particularly the
300F tail lamp lenses.
When I bought this car in July 2000,I had no idea what
I was getting myself into from a parts availability
standpoint. My other cars are late 60's and early 70's
Muscle cars that NOS parts can still be found. I
feared with the 300F that I would be forever trying to
repair or settle for a 40+ year old part that would
not measure up. From the exhaust, dash,restored
steering wheel, Goers Interior,repro
emblems,lenses,this "Brute" just keeps getting better
as she gets older.

I found an old bill of sale today that mentioned that my father-in-law John
Pope bought on May 26th 1976 a white 1960 300 F from Leo A. Nicholes. I
have his 57 C but do not know whatever became of the 300 F................
anyone out there in 300 land know of this car and its wherabouts??

Hi Doug,
If you want to re-use the tie rod ends, a pickle fork is not the way to
go. Various tool companies make a tie rod end remover that has a screw that
pushes on the pin after the nut is removed. They grab the center link, or
steering arm with two jaws. This tool does not damage the part being
removed, and is a worth while investment to any tool box. The one I have is
made by KD Tools, available at Carquest and other parts stores.

I think the forwarded email may be of interest to people in this group
since we do like to drive our 300s at the kind of speeds they were made for
and aren't very fond of "big brother". Seems speed cameras are often wrong
but you still pay. This info might help someone beat a bogus ticket sometime.

Hello list,
It looks like a spring business trip may be in the offing for me.
I may find myself in Vancouver B.C. on Feb 28th and 29th.
I have so far been unsuccessful in my research of car related things to do, junkyards, car shows, swap meets, antique car dealers, etc.
If anyone can assist, I'd appreciate it.
Perhaps someone knows the whereabouts of a rare collectable I can find in a barn out there somewhere? maybe Canadian Hemi converibles hidden in a back yard?

convertible, or a four speed ram convertible... Well we can dream can't
we??? On a serious note, we have a good customer from Canada that stopped
in this fall and told us of a Canadian Govt. project that "really cleaned
up" all the junk cars up there a few years back- many good parts cars went
to the crushers. He was a very unhappy Canadian, and made no bones about it
or complaining about their Government. So I guess we aren't the only people

Well, allot has been said about Mr. D. George. I will cap it off.
A few days ago I received back my NOS 57 left park lens from George that I
sent him as he needed to make a new mould. Of course I received a repo in
the process. Before I sent it I wanted to see if it had a finger print to
ID it when it returned.
With a magnifying glass I found two minute specs of dirt in the resin. When
they returned I looked at both and they were identical. With the glass I
could see the specs in my NOS that were not in the repo. I further
inspected the repo to find every little scratch or squiggle mark was copied
over to the repo. George is a master at making duplicating moulds. He is
also a master at pulling repo's from them. My right goes next and others to
follow.
I did not send them off just to get a freebie. George informed me that the
resin he casts is tougher than original lenses. He suggested that I install
his repo's and save my NOS. After seeing his I will do just that.
